Recently I popped up to my home county to support Sorcha at the Donegal heat of the Rose of Tralee. For those of you that don't know, the Rose of Tralee is a festival where Irish women complete a series of interviews in the hope that they are chosen to win the title. Sorcha had the balls to go for it, and you can see how she did in my vlog of the day below (spoiler: she was incredible!).
What does one wear to such a fancy, but quite random, event? In all honesty, I turned by wardrobe upside-down looking for a suitable outfit! In the end I decided on a combination of vintage and high street... And I'm rather pleased with the final look!
I like how the checkered top clashes with the patterned tights. I bagged the top at a charity shop - it's amazing the gems you can find when you wander out of the retail chains and delve into the cluttered universe of the charity shop. The tights, by the way, happen to be the first PR sample I've ever received. Thrilled that the SockShop found me, because the tights were the perfect way to complete the outfit!
Outfit chosen, there was nothing left to do but set off! Michelle and I had a 3 and a half hour journey ahead of us, but it was rather fun to turn up the music and cruise down the motorway.
The trek up was definitely worth it! Sorcha did such an amazing job in the face of some truly tough questions. Ultimately she didn't win, but she did herself proud. Plus, the whole night was such a laugh! Before Sorcha told me that she had entered the competition I couldn't have imagined that I'd have been in Ballybofey with a rip-off Daniel O'Donnell singing as the judges decided on a Rose. Bizarre... But fun! Here's to many more random nights out in the future!
